Some times we might be in situations where we like to be left alone, needing time for our own self. "Time for our own self" is a really important component of our life.
With the hectic modern lifestyles, some of us might not even realize what it means. Knowing the English meaning is one thing, but what I actually mean by realizing is feeling it. Taking out time for your own self is taking out some minutes to actually talk to yourself. Asking yourself questions like-
In times of discomfort or unhappiness:
How was my day today?
How am I feeling right now?
Why am I feeling what I am feeling?
What can I do to improve the situation?
Although such questions are pretty common but they can be difficult when you are answering yourself. The difference-it's impossible to lie to yourself. Our true self knows answers to a lot of our questions/problems. It's just a matter of talking to yourself. Some of the problems in our life our caused by our own self. In other words, we are in some particular bad situation because of some of our past actions. As such we are the closest persons who have witnessed the roots of the problems. So it is our own self that has the best solution, ready and available. Just question yourself.
One of the best part about spending time with yourself is that you will get to know when things are about to go wrong. It is like an alarm bell before a mishap. Once you are in strong connection with yourself, there will always be the alarm bells and you will be able to avoid some of the worst situations you would have faced.
This connection with yourself is helped by some questions like the above.
This blog now takes a U-turn, talking about the other side of the coin-
In times of happiness/achievement:
What have I achieved today?
How does this matter to me?
Where did I start?
Why did I want this when I started?
So many times we run after our goals and in the end realize that Shakespeare was right- "All things are more readily chased than enjoyed".
After all, what matters in life is not how much a person has achieved. What matters is how much happiness/satisfaction if brought to him. What happens to most of us is that we keep on running and chasing dreams, each one loftier than the previous one. What we fail to realize is that there is a difference between successful and happy.
Out of the countless(everyone hopes) moments of our life, what matters is the happy/satisfied moment we spent.
I found the above questions to be helpful in bringing out the happiness when the success came.
Hope this blog can help someone else!
